The Lost Trades

Our history:
A folk club I could walk to

Founder Mary Blake on setting up the club.

In 2013, I decided I wanted a folk club I could walk to, and thought it might work in Bowes Park. We met in the upstairs room at The Step bar in Myddleton Road (now sadly closed), which we rapidly outgrew, moving on to our current home - Mum's Bistro - a wonderful neighbourhood Greek restaurant run by Nakis and Diana.

We popped up elsewhere too in those early ambitious days. We held workshops - one at The Step, then branching out to the TAB Centre at the Methodist Church. Chris Turner led us wassailing in the Bowes Park Community Garden, and we performed collectively at Enfield Council's 'Come-A-Maying' event at Forty Hall.

Since then the club has grown and flourished attracting singers, players and an audience from further afield. A lot of new young talent is discovering us which is very pleasing.

We’ve never been in better shape as we enter our 10th year!
